The deficiency of facilities and infrastructures and monkey catcher, the forest department hasn't been able to manage the menace of monkeys that is threatening the urban area. Forest officer for the Division (delhi) Ashok Mishra said: "Despite receiving 162 complaints of monkey apprehension this week, our forest officers could not take down one single monkey. Instead, they employed langurs to frighten them away since we do not have the necessary infrastructure to keep monkeys under control."
The department has asked to the Municipal Corporation to provide animals-catching vehicles and personnel to manage the threat. It is ignorant regarding the rehab of animals. "Even when we do catch monkeys, where do we put them? There aren't any rehabilitation facilities within the town," Mishra said. The civic body's plans to build a rehabilitation centre close to Amausi has already failed to meet the date.
"The idea of constructing mokneys rehabilitation centres was approved in the year prior and should have been completed in the past. But, the deadline has been extended to March of next year," the mayor Dinesh Sharma.
Since there are no monkey capturers it is reported that the Forest Department is in talks with a monkey catcher near me team in other towns. "Due to the lack of monkey catcher in delhi within delhi We are currently discussing teams from delhi along with Gurgaon who will collaborate alongside the delhi team to assist us capture monkeys," Mishra said.
The department currently has just one four-member team that is able to capture wild monkeys that roam around the city.
