Monkey catcher in new Delhi: People in several colonies in Delhi are in constant fear of attacks by monkeys. Three municipal corporations have acknowledged they are unable to resolve the issue. Certain RWAs have hired monkey catchers to assist them but others are confused about where they can find them.

Harjinder Sarraha, president of RWA Sector C Vasant Kunj said he's repeatedly contacted the South Delhi Municipal Corporation about the issue and was unable to resolve the issue. Saroha said that the company responded to our written complaints by saying that it doesn't have a monkey catchers. Saroha said that "We aren't sure what else we could do." Saroha pointed out that children and seniors fear leaving their homes because of the fear of being beaten or attacked by sibling.
The residents of Greater Kailash I were similarly dissatisfied when the local government did not meet their expectations and accepted the task of finding the monkey-catcher. They're still puzzled about where to locate the trappers, as do the other colonists. MK Gupta (president, RWA S Block), GK I said, "We have been searching for an elusive monkey catcher for quite some time, but haven't found any."
Senior SDMC officials said that although they have advertised for monkey catchers in the past, they have not shown any interest in the job. Three municipal corporations have eight monkey catchers in total in 2014. A top official of the corporation said that even though we set the pay for the monkey catcher at 15,000 rupees but only 4-5 applicants have applied to date.
According to an official source, monkey catchers were employed on a contract basis, and were paid Rs. 1,200 per animal they captured. He added, "But it's difficult to keep the ape catcher for more than a year." In a bizarre twist, two monkeys walked into the Minto Road headquarters for the municipal corporations. The result was that many councillors from both the north and the south of civic organizations in powerless for several hours.
The officials from the SDMC said that they've repeatedly asked the top wildlife wardens of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana for details on the monkey-catching techniques. But, no reply has been received.
